Robinhood’s legal team is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join our Privacy & Data Protection Legal team. This role reports directly to our Head of Privacy, Legal and will lead our EMEA privacy legal efforts. We are looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility and a sense of humor. You will help lead our efforts to embed privacy principles in our strategic and tactical processes. What you’ll do

  1. Use your subject matter expertise in areas of privacy and data protection laws including GDPR, the e-Privacy Directive and other global privacy and data protection laws to advise on their impact on Robinhood’s businesses and to support international product expansion
  2. Support the business in expansion efforts in EMEA
  3. Assist product lawyers in providing risk-based counseling on privacy and data protection laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on innovative product features and support operations
  4. Provide privacy guidance on marketing and ad-tech initiatives
  5. Draft and oversee the development and management of Robinhood’s data policies and practices

What you bring

  1. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
  2. 7+ years of legal experience, including top law firm experience and in-house tech experience focusing on privacy law
  3. Experience leading EMEA privacy in-house
  4. Experience providing risk-based counseling on GDPR and other data protection laws and regulations
  5. Experience with consumer-facing technology and/or financial services companies
  6. Track record of developing practical solutions to novel problems
  7. Exceptional project management skills
