Robinhood is looking for an Assistant General Counsel to join our growing International Legal team, with experience in brokerage and crypto regulations with a focus on the EU, who is excited to work at the intersection of regulation, technology, and finance. What you’ll do
- Navigate complex regulatory frameworks to help the business design innovative financial products and services
- Identify and draft necessary changes to the firm's systems and procedures to meet the requirements of new rules/regulations
- Engage with financial regulators, including ESMA and NCAs, and other international regulators
- Draft regulatory applications, agreements, policies and procedures, disclosures, account documentation and website materials
- Monitor regulatory developments and making resulting recommendations
- Research brokerage and crypto questions and provide legal analysis and recommendations
- Partner cross-functionally with teams including litigation, compliance, product and government affairs
What you bring
- Qualified lawyer either in the UK or EU with at least 8 years PQE, specialising in financial services regulatory law
- 8+ years of legal practice experience specialising in financial services regulatory law
- In-house legal experience, preferably at a financial service technology company or cryptocurrency business
- Experience at a financial services regulatory agency
- Knowledge or expertise in the rules and regulations relevant to broker-dealers and crypto firms in the European Union
- Experience interpreting and providing advice on the implementation of MiFID II and MiFIR
- Track record of developing practical solutions to novel problems
- Exceptional project management and communication skills
- Ability to provide practical, strategic and business-oriented legal advice, and to effectively manage multiple time sensitive tasks
- Experience drafting comment letters, working with industry trade groups, and engaging in rulemaking and legislative advocacy efforts
