The Role: Associate, Custody Operations
Our team is looking for a motivated professional to support our rapidly growing business. In this role, you will support our Custody Operations team in executing the day-to-day maintenance of our custody solutions. The ideal candidate will communicate and collaborate cross-organizationally with various departments in the company to ensure that our clients’ assets are secure and their associated needs are met.
This employee must be based in the New York City area and work from the office 5 days/week.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and execute the company’s daily custody operations. This will include multiple times per week trips to various secured facilities. The candidate must be able to consistently ensure the end-to-end operations process requirements are met.
- Aid in the management of custody infrastructure, new asset support, and system upgrades, which will include interactions with various Operations, Engineering, Risk, and Business Development teams.
- Manage the company’s inventory of hardware and some software used to custody Digital Assets.
- Assist in responses to due diligence requests from the company’s prospective and existing clients, regulators, and insurers.
- Perform data analysis to gather, filter, analyze, and report on that data (this will include applying SQL to transform data).
- Support the team’s data and reporting efforts for the company’s management team, regulators, and risk committees.
- Assist digital asset movement efforts by monitoring various wallet balances, including balances required for regulatory reserves and the allocation of balances between platforms within the company’s custody infrastructure. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in the company’s digital asset liquidity requirements for regulatory, security, and customer needs and provide suggestions on digital asset management.
- Participate in disaster recovery scenarios to validate physical and digital operations.
- Take metrics-first approach where we make data-informed decisions.
- Support various other custody operations initiatives (e.g., identifying and fixing how we troubleshoot deposits or withdrawals).
- Independently drive outcomes by improving clarity in ambiguous projects.
- Deliver and execute work with a clearly developed plan that also enables stakeholders to execute.
- Lead cross-functional efforts in execution and clearly communicates expected and achieved outcomes.
- Manage initiatives to improve team efficiencies and standardization (e.g., written procedures and policy development).
- Support Gemini's digital asset reconciliation processes, including preparation of reconciliation reports and investigation and resolution of identified variances.
- As needed, communicate with customers to resolve technical operational issues.
- Support on-call efforts through being responsive and available 24/7/365.
- Willingness and ability to work on weekends and holidays (non-remote).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Based in the New York City area.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 4+ years of experience in a professional work environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage tight deadlines and responsibilities effectively; ability to multitask and work successfully under pressure; ability to communicate and collaborate with all organizational departments and levels; ability to articulate plan with defined problems and definition of done, and execute.
- Willingness to take on new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments.
- Strong project execution and/or management skills (setting goals, milestones, timelines and driving execution accordingly).
- Experience with data analysis.
- Willingness to be in an on-call rotation and support other on-call teams with triaging customer facing issues.
- Willingness to travel and work in various locations and environments with limited notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong logistics and calendar management skills.
- 4+ years of experience in management consulting, process improvement consulting, or crypto operations.
- Evidence of strong independent planning and execution.
- Experience with SQL or databases.
- Desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment.
Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $84,000 - $105,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
