Summary

THE ROLE

Due to continued growth, we are now staffing up our Legal team and currently looking for a Blockchain Legal Expert to join Chiliz & Socios.com to be based in our Madrid (Spain) or Gzira (Malta) office. The chosen candidate will be responsible for assisting and supporting the legal team and achieving the results as laid out by the Chief Legal Officer whilst offering support to the product and tech departments in the planning and implementation stages of new projects and products identified by the company.

Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Communicate complex legal and technical blockchain concepts in clear, accessible language.
2. Advising the business on the legal implications of blockchain technology and how to navigate the complexity of its application to different projects, products and services identified by the company in various jurisdictions.
3. Drafting and negotiating contracts related to new partnerships, investments, collaborations for the Chiliz ecosystem.
4. Assisting with regulatory compliance related to blockchain and the general applicability of such regulations to the business of the company.
5. Assisting in day-to-day legal issues concerning the use of blockchain technology and providing ongoing support to various business stakeholders. 
6. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts, and other legal documentation and correspondence relating to the Company’s business.
7. Work with the technology and product teams to support with regulatory analysis when assessing new products and features of the Company’s business.
8. Taking on research work as required and keeping abreast with legislative amendments and regulatory changes. 
9. Assist with developing and revising policies, procedures, and practices to ensure full legal compliance in various jurisdictions. 
10. Liaising with external legal advisors, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders. 
11. Providing practical advice on all legal and technical aspects applicable to blockchain technology affecting the business. 
12. Staying up to date with developments from a regulatory, legal, and compliance perspective (covering blockchain technology, DeFi products and services and crypto asset service providers).
13. Assisting in the identification and mitigation of legal and compliance risks to which the Company may be exposed when applying blockchain technology in the development of its products, services or any collaborations with external third parties. 
14. Analyse complex legal and technical information during the planning, design and execution stages of any blockchain project whilst providing clear and concise advice to internal stakeholders 
15. Manage other ad hoc legal projects/duties as may be required from time to time.
16. Develop and lead educational workshops and training sessions for company personnel on blockchain technology's legal aspects, emphasizing areas like smart contracts, tokenomics, and regulatory compliance.
17. Simplify and communicate legal concepts and requirements in blockchain, training teams in legal intricacies using clear, non-technical language.

Requirements:

1. A University degree in law - those possessing a blockchain law degree or qualifications would be given preference.
2. A deep understanding of the technical aspects of blockchain technology, including its architecture and how it works.
3. Knowledge of applicable regulations to blockchain, cryptocurrencies and crypto asset services and a good understanding of their applicability to different use cases related to tax laws, securities law and DeFi products.
4. Candidates with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in a law firm or as in-house counsel will be considered favourably.
5. A real team player with a positive can-do attitude.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment .
7. Ability to draft and review legal documents with minimal supervision.
8. Strong ability to organise and prioritise workload whilst meeting tight deadlines.
9. Proactive and self-motivated, with an eye for detail.
10. Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate complex legal and technical information.
11. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
12. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, additional languages are a bonus.
13. Prior hands-on experience with blockchain technology (including smart contracts) whilst demonstrating an ability to identify any potential legal implications will be considered favourably.
