Summary

As the Manager of the Cloud Application Engineering team at Block, you will oversee our corporate SaaS platform portfolio. Your primary responsibility will be managing the end to end lifecycle of these applications to ensure they effectively support both the operational and strategic needs of our organization. In this role, you will lead initiatives for system integrations, process automation, user lifecycle management, and SaaS implementation/migration, all while maintaining a strong emphasis on security and scalability within our corporate IT ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

SaaS Application Management: Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of corporate SaaS platforms, ensuring they align with the company’s strategic goals and operational requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams across Corporate Security, Finance, Legal, Corporate Development, Business Operations, and Engineering to ensure seamless integration and reliable functionality of corporate applications.

Automation & Integration: Lead initiatives to automate key workflows and enhance system integrations, with the goal of providing a frictionless working environment.

User Lifecycle Management: Define and execute the strategy for user lifecycle management to ensure smooth onboarding, transitions, and offboarding within corporate applications.

Corporate M&A Support: Lead IT SaaS integrations in mergers and acquisitions by managing consolidations and user management migrations to ensure a smooth transition and alignment with corporate standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in IT systems and SaaS platforms, coupled with a passion for delivering secure, scalable, and efficient solutions. You have a proven track record of managing IT teams and leading complex projects in a dynamic environment.

You Will

  1. Establish Vision and Direction: Set the overarching direction for the Cloud Application Engineering team, aligning team goals with Block's strategic objectives
  2. Lead and Develop the Team: Mentor, guide, and support team members, fostering their career growth, creating a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  3. Manage SaaS Portfolio: Oversee administration, support, and scaling of key SaaS products across the company. Lead vendor management, negotiate contracts in partnership with contract owners, and handle renewals and provisioning for platforms such as Slack, Google, Atlassian, Notion, Dropbox, and others.
  4. Deliver Strategic Projects: Manage the successful delivery of multiple strategic and tactical projects, ensuring they are executed on time, within budget, and aligned with business goals.
  5. Implement Standards and Frameworks: Establish team standards, develop frameworks for project intake, prioritization, and delivery, and set clear objectives and key results (OKRs) to guide and measure team success.
  6. Drive IT Automation: Lead efforts to automate business workflows, optimize user lifecycle management, and identify new technologies to drive efficiency and system reliability.
  7. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in CorpEng and other teams to build, maintain, and enhance our corporate tools, adapting to evolving business requirements and needs.

You Have

  1. Extensive IT Experience: 8+ years in Information Technology with at least 5 years in IT or engineering management, ideally within a large, dynamic organization.
  2. Global Team Leadership: Proven experience in leading geographically diverse teams.
  3. Culture Builder: Ability to establish a team culture of ownership, accountability, and urgency, driving effective and efficient outcomes.
  4. Technical Leadership: Strong capacity to provide technical guidance, mentor team members, and support their professional development and technical growth.
  5. Strategic Vision: Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives and aligning IT projects with organizational goals in a large, complex environment.
  6. Leadership and People Management: Proven track record of motivating, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team, with a commitment to fostering professional growth and a positive team culture.
  7. Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  8. Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset, enabling effective decision-making and issue resolution

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
