Summary

We are looking for a Compliance Lead to join Block and support the continued build out of our Cash App Compliance program. Our mission is to make banking and financial services accessible to the underserved and unbanked by designing and implementing an outstanding compliance program to help grow the Cash App business while protecting the broader financial ecosystem and the Company. In this role, you will support the Cash App Compliance Customer Onboarding and Management (“COM”) program by building, developing, and leading a compliance operations team responsible for conducting in depth compliance reviews as part of our due diligence process.

You Will:

1. Oversee KYC/Sanction team operations, including training, hiring, coaching, and managing staff as well as program development
2. Develop and maintain procedures applicable to the team
3. Identify training opportunities; design/coordinate the development of training materials Iterate on existing workflows, and streamline/ enhance operational efficiency
4. Work with other Compliance Leads to drive strategic planning on team growth, organizational structure, focus areas, and quarterly goals
5. Understand regulatory landscape and compliance requirements; with emphasis on applicable Compliance and AML requirements that include customer identification, due diligence best practices
6. Create, monitor, and execute against key operational metrics and implement solutions with COM program managers regarding any issues identified
7. Liaise with program management on ongoing technology, and process/workflow change initiatives and ensure appropriate team adoption
8. Maintain up to date knowledge on AML regulatory changes and landscape
9. Provide guidance and insight on account escalations, including handling account escalations from junior team members
10. Drive collaboration with Support, Risk, and other operations teams within Block

You have:

1. 5+ years in a AML senior compliance / compliance operations role with a financial services firm, preferably in the payment or Fintech space
2. 3+ years people management experience, including coaching and developing compliance specialists/ analysts
3. Strong operational knowledge in executing and running a sound Compliance program, preferably with hands-on knowledge of MSB regulatory requirements
4. Familiarity with AML laws,regulations, and guidance (for the UK, POCA, MLR, FCA Handbook, and/or JMLSG Guidance).
5. The ability to analyze regulations for determining permissible transactions and activity.
6. Direct experience working with examiners and auditors required
7. A strong analytical and metrics driven approach to create substantiated solutions and efficiency
8. Strong strategic vision and leadership skills with proven ability to motivate and inspire team members
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent Block at industry events
10. Self-starter who can perform flawlessly with minimal direction
11. Ability to present and communicate findings to senior leadership
12. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust quickly as things change
13. Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments and exhibit flexibility in navigating from current state to proposed solutions

1. Proven working experience as an operations lead Relevant industry certifications (CAMS, ACFCS, ICA, CRCM)
2. Strong knowledge of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies Fluency in a language other than English
3. Experience in international markets
4. Experience with SQL and/or Looker
