Summary

The Director, Trading Engineering will be working in development and delivery of high quality, timely and maintainable software solutions in an agile environment which meet functional and non-functional business requirements. This role will involve partner & stakeholder engagement, design and release support. This is a hands on, individual contributor role.

1. Designing and implementing technology solutions for the Fidelity Digital Assets℠ business
2. High Performance algorithms for trading / crypto trading
3. Working closely with our business partners to contribute to business-critical initiatives
4. Demonstrate software engineering excellence through continuous integration, continuous deployment
5. Keeps current with IT blueprint, frameworks and technologies that would benefit us and improve our productivity; guides junior team members on technology
6. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders/large cross functional teams as part of work delivery
7. Follows practices and contribute towards innovative solutions to increase productivity
8. This is a hands-on role where you will write code for product features
9. Set technical direction for software developers by concluding design with other tech leads and architecture

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required
2. At least 12 years of software engineering experience
3. Strong background in designing and developing low latency trading systems
4. Knowledge of WebSocket and FIX protocols
5. Experience in building matching engine, OMS/EMS or exchange-connectivity platform
6. Experience using kernel bypass e.g., Solarflare OpenOnLoad
7. Extensive experience with modern Java using zero GC pattern
8. Highly proficient in ultra-low latency design patterns and optimizing trading systems
9. Hands on experience with low latency messaging products, such as Aeron, Solace or 29West
10. Proficient in SQL and a working knowledge of relational and time series databases
11. Experience with designing APIs, distributed systems, asynchronous workers and resilient messaging services
12. An understanding of microservice architecture and cloud-based deployments
13. Ability to build reliable software that can withstand unreliable environments
14. Can provide leadership and mentorship across small, agile teams in a very collaborative environment where your ideas are welcome
15. Solid analytical, communication, and organizational skills
16. An interest in and experience with cryptocurrencies and a passion for keeping up to date in the space
17. Have the drive and ability to deliver software with a high degree of automation
18. Proficient with version control systems and can handle development for multiple releases in parallel

The Fidelity Digital Asset Trading Team is responsible for platform services and APIs that manage trading of crypto currency. Platform contains a crossing engine and a smart router that would connect and send client orders to other exchanges and liquidity providers. In addition to aggregating market data and routing orders the platform also includes multiple internal/external facing user interfaces and API and services to support the platform.

The base salary range for this position is $103,000-$218,000 per year.
