Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Analyst on our team who will focus on business partnership and help scale our Emerging Initiatives portfolio. We launched these initiatives to grow Block’s mission of economic empowerment by reinventing the way people work with and access financial services. You will play an integral role in the portfolio’s success by partnering cross-functionally to drive efficiency and unlock growth for the business. You will support the team with financial planning and developing strategic analysis. Finance & Strategy team members have an intimate understanding of the business and industry, use analytical methods to evaluate business trends, answer questions with data-driven insights, and communicate relevant recommendations to business leads. This position can sit in any of Block's US offices or be remote from any of the US states with the exception of Alaska.
You Will:
- Forecast and analyze financial performance, including managing the forecast model for a subset of our Emerging Initiatives, and communicating important takeaways to senior partners through regular business performance review meetings
- Prepare materials for internal partners, senior leadership, investor relations and our board to help bring understanding of performance to leadership
- Provide communications to business partners describing adjustments and movements and collaborate cross functionally to drive decisions and adjustments based on key outputs
- Establish and improve our finance tools and systems to better enhance the speed in which we are able to evaluate and monitor the businesses
- Manage ad hoc analyses and special projects as requested by the Emerging Initiatives teams and Finance partners related to performance/metrics, P&L analysis, among other topics
- Own the headcount forecasting process across all Emerging teams and support the development of new dashboards and tools to improve business partner’s ability to execute
- Improve the Emerging F&S procurement processes and drive budget accountability
- Operate with a general sense of curiosity and always aim to improve functional processes, whether it is working with other members of the team or the partnerships you support
- Build strong relationships across the Finance business partners, direct Business unit partners and our cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
You have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or other relevant field
- 4+ years of relevant experience (e.g. management consulting, investment banking, strategic finance)
- Self-starter and team-player mentality, and willingness to work in unstructured environments
- Ability to develop solutions to solve complex or ambiguous problems
- Excellent proficiency in financial modeling (you should be prepared for a case study)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional judgment and maturity, including an ability to execute independently and work with team members of all levels
- Commitment to Block’s purpose of Economic Empowerment
Even better:
- Interest in cryptocurrency, decentralized finance, open source development, direct-to-consumer subscription services, music and/or entertainment
- Experience with different data tools (e.g. Databricks, Tableau, Looker)

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $111,700 - USD $167,500
Zone B: USD $103,800 - USD $155,800
Zone C: USD $98,200 - USD $147,400
Zone D: USD $89,400 - USD $134,000
