Job Description

  1. Assist with the management of Block’s Outside Counsel preferred provider panel, including assisting with the development and implementation of our AFA program.
  2. Assist with rate and AFA negotiations, and monitor firm compliance within Block’s e-biling system, Simple Legal.
  3. Administer Block’s legal billing platform, Simple Legal, and manage the day to day legal billing process including, but not limited to:
  4. Prioritize and promptly address day-to-day issues and inquiries as they arise
  5. Research and act on findings related to the payment processes, for example:
  6. Research account coding to support the financial allocation process
  7. Research and resolve invoices stuck in review or payment process
  8. Partner with International AP partners to research and correct errors
  9. Communicate with outside counsel in a collaborative style to manage non-compliance with Billing Guidelines, drive and deliver a win-win outcome when the situation arises
  10. Provide feedback on issues faced throughout the year to support updates of subsequent Billing Guidelines
  11. Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of the Legal team’s knowledge management function

Qualifications

  1. 3+ years experience in the areas of outside counsel management or legal operations in-house or at a law firm
  2. Demonstrated consultative and customer service skills with the ability to develop relationships with individuals at all levels.
  3. A persistent drive to efficiently solve problems for internal and external clients.
  4. Attention to detail with the ability to plan and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  5. Proven track record of breaking down processes and identifying key pain points in order to deliver business improvements
  6. Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional groups to set objectives and produce results

  8. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
  9. Experience with GSuite, Simple Legal, and Persuit
  10. B.A. or B.S. degree preferred

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the candidate's work location and may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $44.38 - USD $66.59

Zone B: USD $41.25 - USD $61.92

Zone C: USD $37.74 - USD $56.59

Zone D: USD $33.32 - USD $49.95
