We are looking for an exceptional PCB Layout Engineer to help deliver the next generation of bitcoin mining products. Reporting to the Proto Team Electrical Engineering Lead, you will design PCBs for high power mining systems that implement hashing at scale as well as embedded Linux controllers. You will work closely with counterparts on the Electrical Engineering, Product Design, and Manufacturing Test Engineering teams to design reliable and innovative products.

 You will:

  1. Generate and release rigid and flexible printed circuit designs for a variety of bitcoin mining and wallet products
  2. Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and factory testing engineers to design hardware for said products
  3. Create and manage schematic, symbol, footprint libraries, and design templates
  4. Help maintain and enhance our component library
  5. Review and ensure all parts conform to IPC, manufacturer and company standards
  6. Communicate with fab and assembly vendors on DFM
  7. Work with our internal ASIC design team to influence chip and chip packaging design to better meet the needs of PCB layout

Qualifications

You have:

  1. 5+ years PCB design experience
  2. Demonstrated expertise with Altium CAD system, library management and design release process for high-volume product manufacturing
  3. Ability to read and understand part specification and mechanical drawings
  4. Experience with eCAD database management
  5. Experience with IPC guidelines and various PCB and FPC technologies
  6. Ability to read schematics and have working knowledge of electronics principles and basic circuit operation
  7. Experience with PLM (product lifecycle management) practices and PLM tools such as Agile or Arena

Even Better:

  1. Experience with Altium Designer
  2. Experience with RF and high speed PCB design using controlled impedances
  3. Experience with high power and thermal design techniques
  4. Hands-on Electrical Engineering experience
  5. Some background in mechanical assembly/fabrication
  6. Experience with PCB DFM for high volume consumer products

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $163,600 - USD $245,400

Zone B: USD $152,200 - USD $228,200

Zone C: USD $144,000 - USD $216,000

Zone D: USD $135,800 - USD $203,600
