The Role: Security Engineering Intern
As a member of our Information Security engineering team, you’ll hunt for threats and vulnerabilities, and build security solutions to protect the company and its customers from cyber attacks engineered by the most sophisticated adversaries on the planet. There’s a wide range of possible security vulnerabilities that can expose us to these advanced threats. Our job is to identify and fix any vulnerabilities, detect and contain active threats, look ahead for emerging threats and build counter measures, and allow internal and external auditors to verify the effectiveness of our security controls. This will be a hybrid, 10-week summer internship program starting the second week of June with 3 days a week in office.
Responsibilities:
- Triage vulnerability reports and alerts to ensure that threat is real.
- Develop automation and scripts to reduce the workload for security work that may currently be manual.
- Improve our ability to identify vulnerabilities in code and infrastructure.
- Review other software engineers’ code for correctness, style, and information security concerns.
- Be on-call to receive security alerts which require immediate response, triage and containment working with best in class security engineers.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering or comparable.
- Current rising sophomore, junior or senior at a university or college.
- A customer and product-focused mindset, with the ability to make well-reasoned tradeoffs between security, speed and quality.
- Interest and basic understanding of core Systems Administration and Software Engineering concepts.
- Learning to work collaboratively on a team and communicate in meetings.
- Effectively communicates work status to teammates and manager.
- Proactively asks questions and reaches out for help when stuck.
- Voices concerns or need for clarification to their manager.
- Accepts feedback graciously and learns from experience.
Pay Rate
: The hourly pay rate for this role is $50/hour in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
