Summary

Flashbots is searching for a Senior Backend Engineer with a focus on distributed systems and scaling to join our team. This role is ideal for a proactive problem solver with a penchant for deep technical challenges, strong communication skills, and a builder mentality.

You'll be helping contribute to a cutting-edge distributed system, navigating nuanced tradeoffs between latency, privacy, fault tolerance, and incentives.

What You’ll Do:

1. Contribute to the development and scaling of Flashbots products, specifically SUAVE and SUAPPS.
2. Collaborate with the best mechanism design researchers in the industry to build products at the intersection of incentives and distributed systems.
3. Maintain and enhance protocol services and developer tools within the Flashbots ecosystem.
4. Write and manage technical documentation and diagrams for public and internal use.
5. Participate actively in community and partner with leading crypto projects.
6. Write well-tested code.

Who You Are:

1. 4-10 years of experience in production systems, skilled in Rust or Go.
2. Proven experience in distributed systems
3. You find problems to solve, rather than waiting for issues to pile up.
4. Strong OSS blockchain projects/contributions in Ethereum projects
5. Capable of independently leading projects and unifying cross-functional teams through exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
6. Familiar with blockchain or distributed system protocol standards.
7. Flexible, accountable, and focused on high-impact solutions.
8. T-Shaped skills

Nice-to-haves

1. Experience with Ethereum, Geth, or other Ethereum clients
2. Adjacent infrastructure (e.g., indexers or p2p overlays).
3. Worked with Solidity or other smart contract languages.
4. You have contributed to open-source work/projects or participate in public technical discourse, such as contributing to protocol specifications.
