We are looking for an experienced and innovative credit attorney to join our product and regulatory counsel team as Senior Counsel, reporting to the Deputy General Counsel and VP, Regulatory & Product at Robinhood. In this role, you’ll partner directly with our product, engineering and compliance teams on payments related product launches. The successful candidate will be an engaged and resourceful self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and excellent at building strong relationships. What you’ll do

  1. Provide end-to-end counseling on a range of retail products, including those that touch upon payments, credit cards and banking related products and services, working with colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders across the company
  2. Respond promptly to a wide range of complex legal requests and coordinate closely with your team and outside counsel to deliver practical, timely and high-quality advice
  3. Identify and assess business and legal risks, and find creative ways to mitigate them while achieving product goals
  4. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  5. Advise on, review, draft, and negotiate deals and agreements in support of new products and partnerships
  6. Develop trusted relationships to facilitate a coordinated team approach to launching new products and features
  7. Be a business partner, and think like a proactive product owner not just a legal advisor
  8. Pitch in on whatever legal work needs doing, whenever it needs to be done

What you bring

  1. J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent)
  2. Membership in at least 1 U.S. State Bar, with good standing
  3. 4+ years of relevant work experience across a law firm, government agency or a fast-paced technology, financial services, banking, lending, payments, or fintech company
  4. Well developed knowledge and experience with lending products, including credit cards and applicable federal consumer financial protection laws such as the Truth in Lending Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act
  5. Experience working with the Consumer Financial Protection Board and its rules and regulations
  6. Experience with payments and banking industry legal issues and applicable compliance requirements and regulations, including NACHA Rules, card network rules, Regulation E, Bank Secrecy Act / anti-money laundering rules and state money transmission services regulation
  7. Experience in rolling out retail-based, customer service products and services
  8. Extraordinary interpersonal and communication skills, phenomenal ability to communicate information effectively internally and externally, including to non-legal audiences, and to drive cross-functional alignment and action
  9. Execution-oriented mindset with the humility, drive, and creativity to get things done

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan.
