Summary

The Expertise You Have

  1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree with a concentration in Accounting
  2. 7+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience
  3. Strong knowledge of US GAAP / SEC rules and regulations and the ability to apply this guidance to various transactions and fact patterns
  4. Experience with a public accounting firm is a plus
  5. CPA license preferred

The Team

The team is primarily responsible for setting accounting policies for the enterprise, leading the implementation of new accounting standards, and conducting research for new and proposed transactions, product offerings, and other matters to ensure proper application of all applicable standards (primarily US GAAP). The team assists with the preparation of financial statements, delivers trainings to associates, and supports the auditor independence efforts. In addition to leading technical accounting efforts, the policy team also plays a role with influencing operating policies that are used to drive standardization across Corporate Accounting.

  1. Strong technical accounting skills (knowledge and application of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations)
  2. Ability to read, interpret, summarize, and apply accounting standards
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively and confidently with all levels of management and with various business groups
  4. Willingness to take ownership of projects, including the implementation of new accounting standards
  5. Ability to be effective working both independently and within a team

The Value You Deliver

  1. Perform research and analysis to identify and support the resolution of accounting issues while ensuring that each significant or precedent-setting transaction receives the attention necessary to reach accurate and timely conclusions.
  2. Author technical accounting memos to document conclusions reached related to these matters.
  3. Monitor and assess the effects of proposed US GAAP.
  4. Lead the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards.
  5. Interact with Fidelity’s auditors and confidently present and defend our accounting positions.
  6. Maintain and update existing policies for changes in guidance or business practices and draft new accounting policies to address new guidance or business activities.
  7. Provide information to Corporate Accounting colleagues, Finance partners, and business leaders on emerging accounting and reporting matters that may have implications to the business.
  8. Develop and present technical accounting training covering both new and existing requirements.
  9. Work collaboratively with Corporate Accounting colleagues and finance peers.
  10. Assist with reviewing parent and subsidiary financial statements prepared under US GAAP and IFRS.
  11. Collaborate with our auditors and business partners to review and pre-approve proposed non-audit services and to pre-clear candidates for employment to ensure our auditors remain independent from Fidelity.
