The Role:

 

Senior Software Engineer

As an engineer on our team, you’ll architect and solve complex problems that will directly influence the direction of the credit card space. There's a wide range of challenges to tackle – from ensuring the secure handling of millions of dollars worth of customer transactions, to developing innovative new credit card features, to optimizing our API response times to enhance the customer experience. We have a strong culture of code reviews, and a focus on security, with the end goal of writing and shipping high-quality code by getting things right the first time. Responsibilities:

  1. Design and develop scalable architecture for the future state of our credit card systems and contribute towards improving the cryptoback infrastructure.
  2. Improve performance, reliability, scalability and security for our existing credit card backend systems.
  3. Use engineering principles to identify and measure risk and to implement quantitative and technical risk management solutions.
  4. Understand business needs, facilitate and develop process workflows, data requirements, and specifications required to support implementation of real-time credit card transactions.
  5. Write robust code and develop APIs integrations with 3P vendors to provide best in class experience for our credit card customers.
  6. Keep everyone informed about the health and viability of the credit card platform by reporting known issues and status of ongoing investigations.
  7. Identify and advocate for changes vital to the stability and supportability of the system.
  8. Mentor and advise teammates to ensure new features are efficient, highly available, and fault tolerant.
  9. Provide quick response to production issues to help eliminate down time thereby ensuring high availability and performance of our credit card systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
  2. Advanced proficiency in at least one language. We use mostly Scala and C++ on our backend and Typescript on the frontend – it’s great if you’re comfortable in those or if you’re willing to learn.
  3. The ability to work closely across teams and manage dependencies.
  4. A customer and product-focused mindset, with the ability to make well-reasoned tradeoffs between speed and quality.
  5. The ability to adapt and handle multiple competing priorities in collaboration with peers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working on customer growth, acquisition or large scale customer facing applications.
  2. Work experience or knowledge of the finance industry, payments, cards or rewards systems.

Salary Range:

The base salary range for this role is between $152,000 - $213,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
