Summary

The Justice Engineering team owns two domains: Legal engineering and Tax engineering. Tax engineering ensures Block meets tax compliance requirements in the US and other jurisdictions. Legal engineering empowers our counsel team, enabling them to respond to subpoenas and investigations and build trust in our brand through transparency. The team comprises 10 engineers who are geographically distributed across the North America, Australia, and Ireland.

As a Software Engineer on the Justice Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the day to day experience of engineers who are focused on keeping Block safe. You will also be able to help with problem spaces outside the team as they arise. In this role you will be responsible for designing, communicating, and implementing solutions to the problems faced by teams within Block while collaborating with engineering across the globe. We are looking for software engineers who feel comfortable in all parts of the stack. 

You Will:

  1. Collaborate with engineering teams across Block 
  2. Design full-stack tools and services
  3. Improve the ability to access data in order to help keep Block safe
  4. Build incrementally and deploy daily
  5. Work with remote team-members in North America and Europe

Qualifications

You have:

  1. BS Degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of industry experience
  2. Natural curiosity and a desire to explore solutions in a small and focused team
  3. Experience pursuing side projects, research, or open source projects
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. Canada locations are categorized into one of two zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A:

$138,500—$207,700 CAD

Zone B:

$133,700—$200,500 CAD
