Job Description

Summary

The team

We are bringing Kraken onchain. Our team has recently endeavored to explore how more protocols and decentralized applications can be integrated into the Kraken product suite. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to help write the future of Kraken’s onchain product strategy. This is a fully remote role.

The opportunity

  1. Innovate and Lead: High-impact opportunity to shape and build the onchain strategy of a leading CEX, focusing on liquid staking, restaking products, and yield optimization.
  2. Technical Excellence: Design, test, and deploy secure, efficient, and scalable smart contracts on an Ethereum L2.
  3. Independent Research: Bring your own ideas and research to shape Kraken’s onchain vision, particularly in the areas of liquid staking and yield optimization.
  4. Community Engagement: Attend conferences, network in the onchain ecosystem, and contribute to open-source projects.

Skills you should HODL

  1. Proven track record as an onchain developer: demonstrated experience in delivering onchain products or protocol work with some degree of product market fit on EVM-based chains.
  2. Experience in writing, deploying, and managing secure, EVM-compatible smart contracts, preferably those that have accumulated considerable TVL and significant user engagement.
  3. Ability to perform rigorous testing of smart contracts to ensure their security, reliability, and gas efficiency.
  4. Proficiency with leading blockchain and smart contract developer tooling (e.g., Foundry, ethers-rs, alloy-rs).
  5. Ability to work primarily in Solidity.
  6. Ability to build scalable backend services, preferably in Rust or Go.
  7. Up-to-date with the latest developments in smart contract standards and DeFi innovations.
  8. Technical leadership skills: mentoring others and helping to bring their ideas to proof of concept and beyond.

Nice to haves

  1. Proven track record of contributing to open-source projects: some of your work at Kraken will be public.
  2. Ability to write in EVM Assembly, Huff, or an intermediate language such as Yul.
  3. Experience with security auditing tools such as Slither, Mythril, Echidna.
  4. Familiarity with multiple Ethereum rollup stacks.
  5. Startup mentality and experience.
  6. Experience interacting with and managing onchain user communities.
  7. Passionate and knowledgeable about tokenomics and economic incentive designs.
  8. Experience with and/or knowledge of Ethereum liquid staking and restaking products.
  9. Experience with and/or knowledge of financial derivatives and structured products.
  10. Experience with and/or knowledge of MEV and onchain arbitrage strategies.
  11. Experience with non-EVM chains/ecosystems (e.g., Bitcoin, Dotsama, Cosmos, Solana).
