The MetaMask Delivery Team

The MetaMask Delivery Team is focused on software delivery for our Extension and Mobile platforms. There are many teams at MetaMask building a range of features - teams for Accounts, Swaps, Confirmations, Snaps, etc - and they all build their code on and release their features through our Extension and Mobile products. Our team is responsible for ensuring these teams are able to consistently and frictionlessly deliver their features through and throughout the software delivery lifecycle, to the users of these products.

To achieve that, we have a primary responsibility of managing and facilitating the Extension and Mobile release processes. A majority of our time is spent on this, and it requires oversight, coordination and hands on action in support of release planning, quality assurance, branch management and store submission.

In addition, we support, advise and unblock teams at earlier stages of the delivery lifecycle (e.g. planning, development, PR review, code merge). We do this by supporting and troubleshooting the use of the tools, processes, development environments and automations that make up our software delivery systems. As such, we need to be responsive day-to-day to any challenges that are slowing down or blocking any team’s ability to move code and features forward towards

What you’ll do

We are looking for a Staff Release Manager to join our team. The Staff Release Manager will be responsible for ensuring that our releases are delivered on-time with quality, and that our software delivery systems support the continuous flow of work through the software lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality products, experience in project management and delivery, and a strong ability to work with cross-functional teams. The Staff Release Manager will be an individual contributor who brings operational leadership, project management and coordination to a team of developers and QA engineers.

  1. Develop and manage release schedules
  2. Oversee and coordinate release cycle timelines and milestones
  3. Identify opportunities for improving our software delivery systems and help coordinate cross-team collaboration to implement those improvement
  4. Manage delivery risks and issues, and take corrective action
  5. Facilitate decisions about changes to release plans, and in response to unexpected events affecting release schedules or processes
  6. Communicate delivery status, risks, and issues to stakeholders
  7. Coordinate monitoring of production issues and issue response processes
  8. Manage delivery metric collection, ensuring accuracy and currency
  9. Collaborate with product management and engineering to ensure that applications being delivered are validated and meet customer requirements
  10. Collaborate with delivery team engineers to ensure day to day priorities are correctly set, aligned on and executed
  11. Organize processes for gathering and triaging requests from teams who are blocked in delivering their work

Would be great if you brought this to the role

  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Business)
  2. 3+ years of experience in delivery management for mobile and/or client applications
  3. Strong project and program management skills, including experience with project management tools (e.g. JIRA, Asana, Trello)
  4. Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Bitrise)
  5. Experience with monitoring/observability systems (e.g. MixPanel, Sentry, Play Console)
  6. Experience leading cross-functional teams developing mobile/extension applications
  7. Excellent communication and leadership skills
  8. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  9. Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
  10. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  11. Experience in the blockchain industry is a plus
